• Central Intake Line

NPA has a centralized intake line where you can leave a message with your name, telephone number, insurance provider, and whether you are seeking treatment for an adult or child.  If one of our clinicians has an opening, someone will contact you within THREE business days. You will not be contacted if there is no availability at the time of your call.

    Call us today at 781-449-7522.

  • Our Clinical Team

Our clinical team has training and expertise across a wide variety of conditions and treatments. Read more about our clinicians, what services they offer, and what insurances they accept to find the best match for your needs.  You may contact any of our providers directly to see about availability.

  • Workshops

NPA offers daytime online and in-person evening workshops. Our workshops provide clinical frameworks and skillsets that can be broadly applied to help you live the life that you want.  Workshops are ongoing and created to help increase access to effective therapeutic tools. If an individual therapist is not available, consider one of our workshop offerings.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kind of treatment do you provide?

At Needham Psychotherapy Associates, we provide individual, couples, family and child therapy as well as workshops.  Visit our provider page for more detailed information on each of our providers client population, clinical expertise, and insurance plans.

  • Can I use my health insurance for treatment?

To make our services accessible, many NPA providers accept payment through some insurance plans. Visit our Clinician Page for further information about which insurances are accepted by clinicians. All health insurance policies cover mental health services under guidelines that refer to “medically necessary” services. Some insurance companies may carve out their mental health benefits to a managed care company (i.e., Optum is the company that provides mental health benefits for United HealthCare). Insurance will typically provide coverage for face-to-face sessions with a licensed clinician for a diagnosable mental health problem. Your policy will specify how much the company will pay the provider for services, and the amount, if any, of copayment that is your responsibility. Your policy may place a limitation on the number of sessions that you can receive. If you use the allotted number of visits authorized by your plan, your clinician may seek authorization for additional sessions from your insurance company.

  • How do I make an appointment?

Call our central intake line at 781-449-7522. If we have providers available, we will return your call within three business days.  Alternatively, you may contact any of our providers directly.  If no providers are available at the time of your call, consider one of our workshop offerings.

  • What if I need help urgently?

If you are in need of urgent psychiatric care or are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 988 (mental health crisis support line), 911, or visit your nearest emergency room. Our central intake phone number is for NON-URGENT phone calls only. Someone will contact you within 3 business days if we have the availability to see you.

  • Where are you located?

We are conveniently located in Needham Center at 1040 Great Plain Avenue, Suite 312 (3rd Floor, Suite A).  Metered parking is available on Great Plain Avenue in front of the building. There is also free 2-hour parking behind CVS or in the Chapel Street Parking lot.  Many of our clinicians also provide therapy via telehealth.
