Therapists:
I have practiced in Needham since 1974 providing services to patients from four to 74 years of age. Much of my professional work has focused on psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, and families, and I also provide services to adults and couples. While my therapeutic approach could best be described as eclectic, there is a focus on the relationship between client and therapist as I attempt to help the client to uncover and modify patterns of behavior which have created difficulties. I maintain a flexible attitude to ensure a good fit between my clients' needs and my style. In addition to the services described above I have a special interest in work with Stepfamilies. As a Professional Affiliate of the Stepfamily Association of America I have specialty training designed to assist stepfamilies as they negotiate the often unique and difficult challenges and transitions they encounter. I also work with families, couples, and children of divorce to help them reduce the stresses associated with this frequently conflictual process. My efforts focus around conflict reduction and management of the separation issues typical for divorcing families. In addition, I consult with parents and attorneys in situations frequently referred to as High Conflict Divorce. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1968. Following my Internship at the Worcester Youth Guidance Center I have held faculty appointments at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center and Boston University Medical Center. Currently I am on the faculty at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology and am a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Psychological Association. In addition to my clinical interests I have written and published in the areas of Ethics and Managed Care.
